After last year’s online celebration of the anniversary of the Slovene poet, France Prešeren, we much hoped to get together in person this year, as we have done for so many years in the past.
Regrettably, we have decided this is not possible due to continuing restrictions and uncertainties over Covid-19. So we have abandoned our tentative plan to hold a Prešeren Večer on 5th February in London.
When we can open up again, as we surely must eventually, we plan to hold another celebration. Not just for the great Slovene poet, but also to mark the erection of the new Slovene hayrack (kozolec) in Henley-on-Thames. The kozolec has been made by craftsmen in Slovenia and shipped in pieces to Henley. There they are now stored.
We are now working to arrange for the craftsmen to come to England to put it up. Not easy either, but that day will come!
